With the newbuilds DCL ended the ship charter arrangement with Premier Cruise Line (1983-founded/2000-defunct). In the 1980s, Disney contracted Premier Cruises to provide passenger shipping services, with voyages leaving roundtrip from Florida (Port Canaveral/Orlando City). Back then, Disney's travel packages were marketed as "family cruise vacations" and featured costumed Disney Characters.

Although there are plenty of Disney Cruises in 2024, not every itinerary is offered at every port during every month of the year. And once you throw school vacations and time off work into the mix — not to mention the complexities of multiple cruise ships and countless itineraries — it can be tricky to figure out just which cruise to select. Summer 2023 sailings to Alaska aboard Disney WonderThe breathtaking natural beauty of Alaska will combine with the magic of Disney onfive-, seven- and nine-night sailings on the Disney Wonder from Vancouver, Canada. Beginning in May, cruisers will be invited to discover exciting ports like Ketchikan and Skagway, with their prehistoric glaciers, gold mining relics and spectacular land- and sea-life. Three Alaskan itineraries call at Icy Strait Point, home to a coastal rainforest, wilderness tours and – for thrill-seekers – ziplining above the treetops. During this period there will be special Halloween events onboard, including Halloween-themed parties, storytellings, movies and elaborate décor, including The Pumpkin Tree, which magically transforms throughout the cruise.

From the majestic glaciers of Alaska to the sun-kissed Greek isles, pink sand beaches of Bermuda and picturesque fjords of Norway, these summer destinations will sparkle with adventure and excitement. Plus, for the first time ever, families will have the opportunity to sail around the Mediterranean and British Isles on the Disney Dream during its first season in Europe. Disney Cruise Line is a unique enterprise designed to provide the industry's best family ship travel vacation experiences. Disney offers regular departures from Florida USA to Eastern Caribbean (mostly to the Bahamas) from its own cruise terminal at Port Canaveral - just a few minutes away from Disney's capital city Orlando and world's best Disneyland Park. Among the special voyages are the Alaskan itineraries (leaving from Seattle and Vancouver Canada) during the Disney summer and the Panama Canal transition cruises on repositioning between Alaska and Caribbean. From Miami, the Disney Dream will embark on an assortment of four- and five-night cruises to locales including Grand Cayman, Nassau, Castaway Cay and Cozumel, Mexico.
Holiday Cruises, Themed Cruises & Other Special Cruises
Disney cruise ships offer many other dining options beyond the three included themed restaurants — most included, some not. Passengers on their first Disney cruise don't get to make those reservations until 75 days out if they aren't in the concierge level. The reality is the hottest items are often booked up by then, especially on shorter cruises when there's less time to do everything. Disney Cruise Line has about 370 annual departures scheduled that range from two- to 15-night sailings. Many new-to-Disney itineraries have recently become available as the line is adding new ships for the first time in a decade. Disney Wish is currently a workhorse of short three- and four-night sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Bahamas, home to Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.
In Fort Lauderdale, the ship will mainly sail on Bahamian itineraries (featuring Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Disney’s newest private port), with an occasional Caribbean cruise in the mix. We’ll start with a brief glance at where all of the Disney Cruise Ships will be located throughout the year. Then, we’ll go in-depth for each month so you can see exactly which sail dates are being offered for each itinerary. For the first time, the Disney Dream summer will begin on May 4th with one last sailing from Miami then embark on her inaugural European season on May 7th with an 13-Night Transatlantic cruise to Barcelona. The summer will feature sailings in the Mediterranean with a heavy dose of Greek Isles.
There are different Eastern Caribbean itineraries with 2 sailgns visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico instead of St. Thomas, USVI. Additionally, the Disney Fantasy will make her inaugural call in Bermuda on an 8-night Bermuda and Bahamian Cruise. The Disney Fantasy will sail Port Canaveral with new sailings from January 7, 2023 to April 15, 2023.
April 2024 Disney Cruises
The Disney Dream will sail from her South Florida home with new sailings from January 2, 2023 to April 10, 2023. The Disney Dream does not have any sailings available beginning April 15, 2023. The Disney Wonder will… Frankly, that is a mystery on what the Disney Wonder will be sailing or not sailing between January 2023 and March 2023 as the first announced sailing for the Disney Wonder is April 2, 2023 from San Diego. The Wonder will sail a mix of Baja and Mexican Riviera voyages from April 2, 2023 to May 10, 2023. The Disney Wonder does not have any sailings available beginning May 11, 2023.

For those interested in a brochure, Disney Cruise Line published an updated 2023 Sail Dates & Itineraries booklet. Lowest pricing is based on our 3rd party pricing supplier and valid as of April 21st, 2024. The Dream will offer a series of European itineraries that sail out of Barcelona, Spain and Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy from early May through late July — and from Southampton, England from late July through mid-September. Please note, the port order may be different and will be adjusted once the full detailed itineraries are available to view on Disney Cruise Line’s website. You can book your Disney cruise directly with Disney Cruise Line either over the phone or online, but I'd argue you shouldn't.
While the three previously mentioned kids clubs are free and do not require reservations, the nursery operates differently. You will need to make reservations, and the fee is $4.50 per half-hour for the first child and $4 per half-hour for each additional child. On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the teen club has its own set of small pools at the front of the ship.
The fleet project (building two new liners by Meyer Werft Papenburg Germany) was announced in 2007. Disney Dream was introduced in 2011, Disney Fantasy - in 2012, Disney Wish - in 2022. Late summer/early fall departures of the Disney Dream from Southampton will feature cruises to a wealth of destinations including Spain, France, the British Isles, Norway and Iceland. Disney Dream Marks Inaugural Season in EuropeFor its first-ever summer season in Europe, the Disney Dream will call on a wide variety of destinations among the most treasured in the world. Disney Cruise Line released their Summer 2023 itineraries today for the fleet.
Unique cruises have an itinerary that is different from other cruise itineraries that particular ship is sailing around that time. They either visit an unusual location or locations or visit a unique combination of common locations. The people who book earliest almost always get the lowest possible price.
Castaway Cay (formerly Gorda Cay) is located close to Great Abaco Island. In 1997, Walt Disney Company bought a 99-year island lease from the Bahamian Government (set to expire 2096), giving the company substantial control over the cruise ship passenger experience on the island. A seven-night cruise in the Caribbean will likely start around $5,000 for a family of four. Expect Alaska and Europe cruises to start at $5,000 to $6,000 for inside cabins for a week, and prices go up for longer sailings and upgraded cabins. These can be made for you starting 120 days before your sailing, which is before all other guests except those with the highest elite status tier in the Castaway Club.
Below is the copy of the press release issued along with the new sail dates. This list will be updated as soon as we learn which sailings are excluded. New ports of call include Kiel, Germany, La Rochelle, France, Sandnes, Norway, and Skjolden, Norway. The only caveat is that this is for new bookings only as the website is still not set up to move a placeholder to a new booking. Those sorts of prices will only be available during the offseason, such as in mid-to-late January and early February or for repositioning cruises as the ship moves from, say, Puerto Rico to Florida.
For round-trip cruises from Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Brisbane, guests 18 years of age and older may purchase and consume alcoholic beverages without parental consent. Small electrical appliances such as electric shavers, curling irons and flat irons with standard North American plugs will function on board; 110-volt items should not exceed 1,500 watts, and 220-volt items should not exceed 2,000 watts. A hair dryer is provided in every cabin for your convenience, but you may bring your own as long as it meets the guidelines above. It's forbidden in cabins and on cabin balconies, and those who violate this rule will face a $250 cleaning fee.
